Lurkville U.S.A.
Saturday we took a little field trip up to Redwood in downtown for the first night of Lurkville thrown by Fast Eddie, F.I.S.M., Fiberops, The So-So’s and The Social Trust. Despite the City of Los Angeles doing their best to close every street in the surrounding area we all still had a great time. The place was packed, the music was on point, and we only saw a few silly hats the whole night. We look forward to the next event and may even attempt to shoot some non blurry shots next time.
Hey Jarred, get a room!

Camera Classic
Last week we met up with photographer Pat Nataro for a photo-shoot at Rivi Jeans, Pat brought out the big guns for the shoot with this old-skool Polaroid.

Edumacation
One of our new recruits at 530, Laura, asked us to come down for a day of portfolio reviews for the CSULB graphic design graduates. The day was spent pondering use of fonts, colors, white space, and overall presentation. There were a few stand-outs (any one who is willing to visually graph their daily intake of Gummy Bears gets our attention for sure).

Yappin’ With Yasi
Yasi from Cultist and The Hundreds, “Ask Yasi”, joined us for lunch and a discussion on french fries. I am still a little weary of Carne Asada fries and not sure how they are different then Irish Nachos, but I am not going to argue.

LA Day-Trippin’:01
Last Week a few of us from the 530medialab crew (Bart, Kevin, Erik, Andy and Pat) drove up to Los Angeles to meet with Harry Morton and Arich Berghammer from Pink Taco and the Viper Room to discuss re-launching the websites for both spots. On the way we stopped off at the Viper Room to take the tour and snap a few pics before they remodel (the place definitely looks a lot different in the day).

Pat tricked out his Prius with a 530 sticker.

LA Day-Trippin’:02
After meeting with Harry, Arich, and Kyle we headed over to Pink Taco at the Century City Mall to check out the vibe and grab some food. We made sure we had a couple beers with dinner to help make the trip home in heavy traffic just a bit more bearable. If you haven’t been to Pink Taco yet make sure you go, better yet make sure you head down there on Cinco de mayo, we hear they got some killer stuff planned.
